Celebrated National Day yesterday with NP mates. We celebrated xl's and ka's b'day too. Too bad ep missed out.
First time in my life did I see a whole train carriage filled with people all wearing red. Even the elderly and the young were wearing an assortment of red and white t-shirts. Amazing.. Apart from the fact that every single one went out at city hall mrt and the whole place was seriously jam-packed.
Originally, we wanted to queue up for donuts at raffles city but the queue was looking as long as usual. However, thanks to puiyee for informing us of another branch at suntec, we made our way there and bought our donuts within 30mins. Really fast.. We bought like 7 dozen donuts in total and every single passerby was staring at us.. Haha..
Actually we wanted to arrive early at the esplanade to get good seats to watch the parade but due to unforseen circumstances, we only reached marina square at like 5+. There were army personnel all over the place and everyone was forced to walk in a certain direction only. In the end, we ended up at the padang, which wasn't that bad, cos we got to see all the ntuc ppl open and close their cute umbrellas to make the giant singapore flag. Lol..
Our position was quite good as well, cos we got to see the parajumpers as well as the helicopters right above us. We were all busy playing cards and looking at the giant screen in the padang and no one really bothered to eat the donuts. Lol.. We even sold some of our donuts away to a passerby who wanted to eat some and saw our 7 boxes. A tip to all alcoholics out there, do not eat donuts and drink at the same time. The combination of tastes leaves much to be desired..
But the finale of the parade was totally awesome. The fireworks were seriously amazing and they were right above us. Watching the fireworks made me feel that all the shoving and pushing just to get to where we were was worth it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to participate in the next NDP. =P
With the celebrations over, it's time to finally settle down and work hard. It's the final stretch now and hopefully I'll manage to reach the end.
